Bring your favorite superheroes to life, and then create your own! In this camp, students will explore the cutting edge technology of 3D printing, then learn to use digital art tools to create their own superhero comics! Students will learn the process of creating digital objects in a 3D space through beginner projects, then build something from their favorite comic book and movie characters (whether it’s Captain America’s shield, Thanos’ gauntlet, or Batman’s bat symbol). Our staff will review each student’s design and teach the class about the best practices of 3D modeling. Students will receive real, 3D printed versions of the approved projects they complete in class.

Students will be able to take their programming skills and apply them to Minecraft! Using those core computer science concepts, students will be able to create Minecraft mods that alter the game itself. They will be able to create their very own blocks, tools, food items, mobs, dimensions, and more! To top it all off, students will apply computer science logical principles to utilize Minecraft’s redstone material to create amazing, fully operational structures like combination locks, a dunk tank, TNT launcher and more!

Engage your young tech-enthusiasts with two cutting-edge, 3D technologies for a unique learning experience with STEM exCEL! In this five day camp, imagination is the limit as campers design and create 3D objects, then watch a 3D printer in action! Then, students will learn to utilize a professional game engine to build their very own video game. The 3D models they create can be fully integrated into their games to craft a completely customized final product. Students will go home with 3D prints of their creations and digital files of their games. Please pack a peanut-free lunch and water.

About STEM exCEL

STEM exCEL guides and mentors students to obtain a foundation in computer science and coding so they may excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Whether students are future computer scientists, inventors, artists, farmers or entrepreneurs, STEM exCEL’s goal is to prepare them to follow their aspirations.

STEM exCEL would like to work with your community Computer & Coding Club to inspire kids to code in the same way you want to motivate them to learn musical instruments or try a new sport. Whether or not our students go on to work in a computer programming field, they will have beneficial confidence and a sense of purpose to act and converse in computational universal languages.
